FAIR Begins at home: Implementing FAIR via the Community Data Driven Insights

چکیده

Arguments for the FAIR (Findable, Accesible, Inter-operable and Reusable) principles of science have mostly been based on appeals to values. However, work onboarding diverse researchers make efficient effective implementations requires different appeals. In our recent effort transform institution into a University by 2025, here we report experiences Community Data Driven Insights (CDDI) , interfaculty initiative where all university-wide research data service providers are joined together support groups ( e.g. see showcase example ) with aspects concerning management. CDDI aims turn digital objects within Maastricht (UM) Digital Objects (FDO) disclosing progress challenges implementing FDOs OSF repo: https://osf.io/398cz/ ), hope shed light process in way that might be useful other institutions Europe elsewhere. We initially identified 5 FDO implementation. These were first matter reshaping culture making practices fit principles. Additionally, it required an educational awareness scientific communities, finally financial technical tools actually facilitate transition making. perspectives show complex dimensions implementation across disciplines single university.

Algorithms for Implementing Fair Wireless Power Allocations

We describe algorithms for fairly allocating power among wireless devices sharing a multiple access channel. This problem can be formulated as one of finding a representation of a point in a contra-polymatroid as a convex combination of a small number of its extreme points. We show that this problem is solvable in polynomial time and then describe a fast algorithms based on the Dantzig-Wolfe de...

The CBM experiment at FAIR

The high-intensity heavy-ion beams of the FAIR accelerators, together with the planned Compressed Baryonic Matter (CBM) experiment [1], offer unique possibilities to produce and to investigate baryonic matter at highest densities in the laboratory. According to calculations, baryon densities of up to 10 times saturation density (comparable to the ones in the inner core of neutron stars) and ene...

The PANDA Experiment at FAIR

The PANDA experiment is one of the large installations at the future international Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research (FAIR) in Darmstadt, Germany. It will be located at an internal target station of the High Energy Storage Ring for anti-protons. The PANDA physics programme focusses on charmonium spectroscopy and the search for glueballs and hybrids, but also includes hypernuclear physics...

Fair Division via Social Comparison

We study cake cutting on a graph, where agents can only evaluate their shares relative to their neighbors. This is an extension of the classical problem of fair division to incorporate the notion of social comparison from the social sciences. We say an allocation is locally envy-free if no agent envies a neighbor’s allocation, and locally proportional if each agent values its own allocation as ...
